As explained in last post Ganesh Chaturthi is a festival in India celebrated around August or September. This festival celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesh. This festival is celebrated upto 10 days publicly. Privately, depending upon different families it is celebrated for 1 1/2 day, 3 days, 5 days, 7 days and 10 days.
On the last day the idol is taken to the nearest river or sea with a band and people on foot dancing and praying as a tribute to God to great their home or area. Then the idol is released in water body. It is said that as the idol dissolves, Lord Ganesha returns to Kailash to Shiv and Parvati.

Lord Ganesha’s favorite food is said to be modak. Usually a variety of modak is kept along with ladoos as a offering. While they are sold widely around this time, many prefer making it at home as a sign of devotion and dedication.

On Monday, I visited few friends house for Ganpati. At a friend’s house (Mango.marmalade) they were making fresh modak. The coating was of rice flour and the filling was of 2 types: a jaggery coconut filling and a sugar coconut filling. Her aunt taught me how to make it. I made 1 perfectly and very proud of it.

Ganpati Bappa Morya!
Happy munching!🍡🍯🥥🍚
