
This prawns dish is so delicious, I have been eating prawns paddi since I was a kid and till date it is one of my favorite dish. My mom finally taught me this dish and I am so grateful for it. The trick it to let the onion brown properly, changes the entire taste. Try it out.

Ingredients:
250 g – Prawns (preferable small)
3 – Onion (big – finely chop)
4-5 – Kokam rind
5-6 – Garlic cloves
1 tsp – Jeera
2 tsp – Red chili powder
1/2 tsp – Turmeric powder
1 tsp – Coriander powder
1 tbsp – Oil
Salt to taste.
Method:
In a bowl put prawns. Clean and wash them. Dab tissue on it so it’s little dry. In a mixer, put garlic and jeera. Grind it.
In a pan, pour oil. Let it heat. Put garlic – jeera paste. Saute until jeera crackle a bit. Add onion. Saute for 2-3 min. Add kokam (if you do not have it then add 1-2 tomato finely chopped or 1/2 inch tamarind soaked in water). Saute until the onion is golden brown.
Add all powdered masala (red chili pwd, turmeric pwd, coriander pwd and salt). Saute and add prawns. Mix well and cover. Mix occasionally until prawns is cooked (if prawns leave water then reduce until the water dries out).
Garnish with chopped coriander and serve with roti/bread).
