Kashmiri Murg Tikka

As you guys know during November I stopped blogging as I was feeling very uninspired. This is the dish that got me back in the game. I had my brother coming over and being the family chef cooking a special meal comes on me. I asked my mom to get random ingredients and said I will make something nice on the spot. This is what I made.
Kashmiri murg tikka is a spicy, creamy and oh-so mouth watering dish is a must try. check it out.

Preparation time: 5-10 min

Cooking time: 30-40 min

Serves: 4-5 people

Calorie per serving: 504.14 – 403.31 per serving

Ingredients:

3/4 kg (750 g) – Chicken
2 – Potato (medium sized – cube)
1 – Onion (medium size – fine chop)
5-6 – Garlic clove (chopped)
1 inch – Ginger (chopped)
1 tsp – Mustard seeds
1 tsp – Cumin seeds (jeera)
2 tbsp – Mustard oil
6-7 – Curry leaves
1/2 cup – Kashmiri red chili paste
1/2 cup – Fresh cream
1/2 cup – Cheese (Processed – grated)
1 tbsp – Lemon juice
Salt to taste.

Method:

Wash and cut chicken in desired sized pieces. Prepare all ingredients on the counter.
For kashmiri red chili paste, take kashmiri dry red chili (1 – 1/2 cup). Cut the chili so the seeds come out. Put the seedless chili in water. Put it on heat and let it boil. Remove from head. Drain the water. Put ice cube in the chili. Grind the chili only after 5 min of resting (I already had the paste ready in my house)
In a pot, add mustard oil. Put mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaf, garlic and ginger in it. Saute until the seeds pop. Add onion. Cook till translucent. Add Kashmiri red chili paste. Mix well. Let it cook for a min. Add chicken and potato. Mix well. Cover the lid and let it cook. Stir occasionally.

After it is partially cooked, add salt. Mix well. Cover and let it cook for 10 min. Stir occasionally.
Now, add cream, cheese and lemon juice. Mix well. Cover and cook some more until done (adjust salt in case its too spicy at the end or add more cream). Garnish with cream, fried curry leaves or coriander. Serve hot with bread or eat directly, enjoy.
